Help from the people who build it.

Write to us about anything — a question, a problem, or something you wish Sudex did. Please don’t send client documents; a description or a made-up example is enough.

Contact us

Email [email protected]. Tell us which version of Sudex you have (it is in Settings, under About) and what you were doing when the problem happened.

What you need

  • Windows 11, 64-bit.
  • Microsoft Word and Excel — the desktop programs from Microsoft 365, Office 2021 or Office 2024 — to turn Word documents and spreadsheets into PDFs. PDFs, emails (.eml and .msg) and pictures need nothing else, and Outlook is not needed at all.
  • An internet connection now and then, for the monthly licence check once subscriptions begin. The work itself never needs one.

Settings in Sudex shows whether it has found Word and Excel on your computer.

Getting started

  1. Open Sudex. Home shows the court book tool, the four other tools, your matters and anything you have saved.
  2. Choose Bundle for a court book, or another tool, and add documents — drag files or a folder onto it, or use Add.
  3. Press Check. Sudex opens every file, counts the pages and lists anything that needs a decision under “Worth checking first”.
  4. Build the court book (or stamp, link or convert). Results are saved as new files beside your documents, unless you choose somewhere else.
  5. Use Save progress to keep the job, filed under its matter, and open it again from Home.

Common questions

A Word document or spreadsheet “can’t go in as it is”.

Sudex needs the desktop Word or Excel to convert it. Check Settings → Office to see what Sudex has found. Until then you can put in a placeholder page or leave the document out; either way the reason is recorded in the bundle’s index file.

Where is my saved work kept?

Jobs, matters, templates and defaults are small files in %APPDATA%\Sudex on your computer. Settings has a button that opens the folder. Your documents are never copied there.

Can colleagues use the same court book settings?

Yes. In Bundle, the court book tool, save your settings as a template, then export it as a file for a colleague to import. A template holds settings only — never documents or where they are.

A link in a linked copy doesn’t open.

Links are relative by default, so they keep working when the linked copy and its documents are moved together. If the documents were moved separately, run Link again, or choose full paths in Link’s settings.

How do I get my settings back to how they came?

Settings → Defaults lets you forget one tool’s defaults, or reset everything. Saved jobs and matters are kept.
